HANDS FREE SOLUTIONS
It’s illegal to use a handheld mobile phone or device whilst driving in the UK and the penalty for doing so is a £60 fine and 3 points on your license.
What the law says
The Road Safety Act considers it an offence for anyone driving a motor vehicle to hold and use any type of mobile device for any type of communications activity (including making and taking calls plus other activities, like reading a text or accessing the Internet). This also applies when the car is in stationary traffic. If the device needs to be held to make or receive the call, it is illegal. The only exemption is for making an emergency (999 or 112) call where it would be impractical or dangerous to stop driving.
Our recommendations
Irrespective of budget, there is a Handsfree solution for you. The option you choose will depend on whether or not your mobile phone has Bluetooth connectivity:
